Trade review example 1
NAN.ASX - $6.0k Opening Drive (Short)
What made this an A+ Catalyst?
(Earnings Revenue Miss + Recent Price Run)
Below is a transcript
from an interview in the trading guide.
Words by Nick Fabrio.
- Stock is up nearly 60% since the
last report
- The market appears to be pricing in some huge earnings growth
- Plenty of
protection for me above, fairly thick offers > 355, so the risk was within my tolerance level
- Quite a large
short-base at 8.69%; however, it is down from a high of 14% in mid-April, so there is
potentially room for shorts to press again now (could have gone either way, however)
Trade review example 2
KGN.ASX - $8.0k Opening Drive (Short)
What made this an A+ Catalyst?
(Pre-Guided Earnings + Recent Price Run)
Below is a transcript
from an interview in the trading guide.
Words by Nick Fabrio.
- The quarterly report released
around 1 month ago more or less provided all the info that was in the FY report today, and stock
is back at pre-quarterly levels, running up 40% in the last 2 weeks
- Gappy stock, and usually
gets punished if there is something slightly wrong, very much in the “broken leader” category
after a few cash flow disappointments; however, most brokers still see it as a good stock and
refuse to downgrade
- The 700 sell-down mess up by Ruslan a few months back is still on
everyone’s mind - and no doubt people are sceptical he will sell more
- AFR article and
conference call confirm the market perception that he might sell more

Nick Fabrio
Nick is a long-term FP Markets client and a successful ASX day trader focusing predominantly on intra-day ASX setups. Nick’s success came quite early on, as he reached one million dollars in trading profits after just 2.5 years of full-time trading. He gained further notoriety as he led a movement to inject transparency into social media and fintwit spaces by posting his daily portfolio screenshots and his monthly profit and loss figures for all to see. This has led to Nick gaining a significant social media following on Twitter with 31K followers at the handle @longhorncapital and appearing on episode 164 of the Chat with Traders podcast.
With a self-described short bias, Nick started out as an intra-day scalper of “stocks in play”, a term coined by Mike Bellafiore in his best-selling novel “The Playbook”, in which he outlines a method of trading stocks with a clear catalyst in a repeated and structured manner in regards to both trade management and trade review. As Nick’s trading has developed, he has branched out into other styles such as intraday swing trading, some overnight holds and also some longer-term buy-and-hold investments.
